Cindercleft
Cindercleft was forged at the base of a dying volcano by a warrior-smith who hammered the blade while waist-deep in cooling lava, believing suffering would teach the steel to hunger. It has passed through the hands of champions and conquerors, and every wielder has noted the same thing: the sword does not merely cut, it concludes. Scholars who have studied its scorched grip believe the blade remembers every enemy it has split, and that its rage and the wielder's have long since become indistinguishable.
Mechanics
A roaring greatsword that erupts into full flame while its wielder rages, slamming foes with explosive force and searing heat.
Smoldering Edge
This weapon deals an extra 1d6 fire damage on a hit. The blade is always warm to the touch and sheds dim light in a 5-foot radius.
Conflagrant Fury
While you are raging, Cindercleft erupts into open flame and sheds bright light in a 20-foot radius and dim light for an additional 20 feet. During this state, the extra fire damage from Smoldering Edge increases to 2d6 instead of 1d6, and whenever you hit a creature with this weapon, that creature must succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving throw or be pushed 10 feet directly away from you as the blow detonates with a concussive burst of flame.
Hearthbreaker
Once per day, when you hit a creature with this weapon while raging, you can choose to bring the blade down in a devastating overhead smash. The target takes an additional 4d6 fire damage and must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or be stunned until the end of your next turn as the shockwave of heat and force overwhelms them. You must declare the use of this ability before the damage roll.
DM Notes
Balance consideration: The push effect on Conflagrant Fury is very strong in environmental encounters, near cliffs, pits, or hazardous terrain, it becomes a reliable source of bonus damage or instant kills. Consider the terrain of your encounters carefully. The stun on Hearthbreaker is also potent; because stunned creatures automatically fail Strength and Dexterity saves and attackers have advantage against them, it can define a round. The once-per-day limit and the requirement to declare before the damage roll (meaning a missed attack wastes the use) help balance this. Attunement is restricted to barbarians because both Conflagrant Fury and Hearthbreaker are gated on the rage class feature. The item is intentionally designed around Barbarian combat identity: big hits, being in the thick of it, and controlling space through explosive force.
