Covenant
Covenant was consecrated during the last hour of a siege that should have broken the defenders entirely. A priest struck the gate with this mace and called out that no ally would fall alone, and the words became the weapon itself. Those who wield it say the head grows faintly warm whenever a companion is healed nearby, as though the iron remembers the promise made that night.
Mechanics
When you restore hit points to a creature with a spell, Covenant stores that healing as Resonance and can release it as a burst that mends all nearby allies at once.
Resonant Surge
Whenever you cast a spell that restores hit points to one or more creatures, you may note the total number of hit points restored by that spell, up to a maximum of 30. This stored value, called Resonance, replaces any previously stored value. As a bonus action, you release the stored Resonance in a 15-foot radius centered on you. Each creature of your choice within that radius other than yourself regains hit points equal to half the stored Resonance (rounded down). Once you release Resonance this way, the stored value resets to 0. The stored value also resets to 0 if you finish a long rest.
DM Notes
The 30-point Resonance cap ensures the bonus action burst delivers at most 15 hit points to each chosen creature in range, roughly equivalent to a 2nd-level Cure Wounds spread across multiple targets. This is intentionally efficient but not overwhelming: the player must choose between healing a single target fully or banking Resonance for a broader release, creating meaningful tactical decisions. The Resonance resets on long rest, which prevents banking a large value between encounters to trivialize early-fight damage spikes. Watch for parties that delay spending healing spells until after a fight begins specifically to maximize the burst; this is clever play rather than abuse, but DMs may want to ensure combat encounters open with enough early pressure to discourage pure banking. Covenant is most rewarding at 5th level and above when the Cleric has access to healing spells with larger output totals.
