Thunderclap Manifesto
Forged in the eye of a perpetual storm called the Pronouncement, the Thunderclap Manifesto was crafted by a gnomish artificer obsessed with spectacle as much as function. She believed every great deed deserved a great audience, and so she bound the storm's voice into the blade, not to terrify alone, but to announce. It is said that when the sword first struck a worthy foe, the lightning didn't just wound, it illuminated.
Mechanics
A lightning-wreathed greatsword that crackles with audible power, projects a luminous brand of its wielder's sigil to all nearby, and sunders the battlefield with thunderous spectacle.
Living Broadcast
While you hold this greatsword, a radiant sigil, shaped like a personal emblem of your choosing when you first attune to the weapon, shimmers 3 feet above the blade's tip and is visible in bright light out to 60 feet and dim light out to 120 feet. Hostile creatures that start their turn within 30 feet of you and can see the sigil must succeed on a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw or be frightened of you until the start of their next turn. A creature that succeeds on this saving throw cannot be affected by Living Broadcast again for 24 hours.
Voltage
This weapon is a +3 magic greatsword. On a hit, it deals an additional 2d6 lightning damage.
Arc Surge
When you score a critical hit with this weapon, lightning erupts from the blade in a 20-foot cone originating from you in the direction of the target. Each creature in the cone other than the original target must succeed on a DC 18 Dexterity saving throw or take 6d8 lightning damage, or half on a success. This damage does not benefit from the critical hit multiplier.
Signature Strike
Once per dawn, when you hit a creature with this weapon, you can choose to brand that creature with your luminous sigil. The branded creature sheds bright light in a 10-foot radius and dim light for an additional 10 feet. For the next minute, each attack roll made against the branded creature gains a +2 bonus. If the branded creature dies while the brand is active, the sigil erupts upward 60 feet into the sky as a bolt of lightning, then resolves as a booming thunderclap audible for 1 mile, a natural scene-setting flourish for the brand's final review.
DM Notes
This item is intentionally high-impact for the character concept: it combines meaningful offensive output (+3, 2d6 lightning), a battlefield-control aura, a powerful critical hit rider, and a branding utility. The Living Broadcast fear aura is the most potentially disruptive element, DC 18 Wisdom is formidable at most tiers of play. Consider adjusting the DC downward (to 16) if the Fighter's party already has strong crowd control. Arc Surge is gated behind crits and is mostly a spectacular bonus rather than reliable economy. Signature Strike's +2 bonus to attacks against a target stacks and can be potent when combined with a full action-surge turn, the once-per-dawn limit is the primary brake on this. The visual spectacle effects (sigil, death lightning) are entirely flavor and do not require adjudication. Encourage the player to name and describe their sigil during session zero for maximum buy-in.
