This orb, recovered from the sealed vault of an arcanist who died mid-incantation, appears to answer the question. The glass inside shifts faintly with the afterimage of every spell cast through it, like breath fogging a cold window. Those who have used it report a peculiar sensation: the feeling of words already said pressing forward, wanting to be said again.

Carried Resonance
When you cast a spell of 1st level or higher using this orb as your spellcasting focus, the orb retains the spell's imprint until you cast another spell through it. While an imprint is held, you have a +1 bonus to spell attack rolls and to the spell save DC of spells you cast through the orb, as the focus strains to reproduce what it remembers.
Echo Cast
Once per long rest, when you cast a spell of 3rd level or lower using this orb as your spellcasting focus, you may immediately cast that same spell a second time as part of the same action without expending a spell slot. The second casting uses the same targets, area, and all other parameters as the first. After the second casting, the orb's interior dims to a deep grey until the next dawn.
DM Notes
The +1 bonus to spell attack rolls and spell save DC from Carried Resonance is a meaningful ongoing benefit at rare tier but is balanced by its conditional framing. The imprint resets with every new spell cast, so the bonus is always active in practice for spellcasters who cast regularly. Echo Cast is the high-impact ability: doubling a 3rd-level spell such as Fireball, Counterspell, or Hypnotic Pattern is very strong. DMs should note that the second casting requires the same targets and parameters, preventing the caster from redirecting the echo. This makes it most powerful with damaging area spells and least useful with targeted utility spells that would be redundant. Consider placing this item in encounters where the caster will face a critical moment requiring burst output. The once-per-long-rest restriction keeps it from dominating every session.
