Vestment of the Frozen Archive
Stitched together from the vellum leaves of a library that burned in a blizzard three centuries ago, this armor remembers every word that was lost to the cold. The ghosts of scholars who perished in that storm linger within its pages, their breath a constant chill against the wearer's skin. Enemies who draw near claim to hear voices — fragments of half-forgotten texts — before the ice closes around them.
Mechanics
Armor woven from pages of a frost-bound haunted library that silences foes with glacial whispers and preserves knowledge at the cost of warmth.
Pages of the Dead
This armor has 5 charges and regains 1d4+1 expended charges at dawn. While attuned, the armor hums faintly with spectral cold. You gain a +1 bonus to AC while wearing this armor.
Glacial Whisper
When a creature you can see within 60 feet of you deals damage to you or an ally, you can use your reaction and expend 1 charge to send a fragment of frozen script streaking toward it. The creature must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or take 3d6 cold damage and have its speed reduced to 0 until the end of its next turn. On a success, it takes half damage and its speed is unaffected.
Entombed in Frost
As an action, you can expend 2 charges to target one creature you can see within 30 feet. That creature must succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving throw or become restrained until the end of your next turn as spectral ice and shredded manuscript pages encrust its limbs. While restrained this way, the target is deafened and cannot speak or cast spells with verbal components.
The Librarian's Memory
As an action, you can expend 3 charges to dredge a fragment of lost knowledge from the archive bound within the armor. You learn one piece of lore of your choice — equivalent to the information that would be revealed by the Legend Lore spell, but limited to a single topic or creature type of your choice. The DM adjudicates the scope of the information revealed. Once you use this ability, you cannot benefit from it again until the following dawn even if you regain charges.

DM Notes
The +1 AC on a very rare item is intentional but kept modest because the item's primary power lies in its charge abilities, particularly Glacial Whisper's reaction-based damage and speed reduction, which can significantly shape battlefield control. Monitor use of Entombed in Frost — silencing spellcasters for a turn is potent; if it feels too strong against a particular enemy, remind players the target can still take other actions. The Librarian's Memory is deliberately narrative in scope and DMs should use it as a storytelling tool rather than an information dump — limit revealed information to what is relevant and interesting to the current campaign. With only 5 charges recharging 1d4+1 per dawn (average 3.5), the player will need to choose between reactive defense and offensive control, creating meaningful decisions. Compatible classes listed can wear studded leather and would realistically use this armor.
