Veloranthas, the Lifeward Unbowed
Veloranthas is a word drawn from an old healer-tongue spoken by the wandering chirurgeons of the Tethered Coast, meaning roughly, one who refuses the final silence. The bracer was first crafted for a field medic who survived three sieges by sheer refusal to let her companions die before she did. Soldiers who fought beside her swore the bracer glowed brightest at the moment all hope seemed lost.
Mechanics
A bracer that fortifies allies with a stabilizing ward and surges with restorative power when a companion falls near death.
Steadfast Warding
While attuned, whenever you restore hit points to a creature other than yourself using a spell, ability, or item, the target also gains temporary hit points equal to your proficiency bonus. These temporary hit points last until the start of your next turn.
Surge of Veloranthas
When a creature you can see within 60 feet of you is reduced to 0 hit points, you can use your reaction to instantly restore 4d8 + 4 hit points to that creature, stabilizing and rousing it. The creature regains consciousness with those hit points and is no longer incapacitated by the dying condition. Once you use this property, you cannot use it again until the next dawn.
DM Notes
Balance consideration: Surge of Veloranthas is a reaction-based emergency resurrection within a 60-foot range, restoring an average of 22 hit points. This is powerful but gated to once per dawn and restricted to 0 HP triggers, meaning it cannot be used proactively. DMs should note that it does not prevent death saving throw failure from massive damage, only from being reduced to 0 HP normally. The temporary hit points from Steadfast Warding are intentionally brief, preventing stacking abuse while still rewarding a healing-focused playstyle. This item rewards characters who are already spending actions on healing, making it a strong choice for dedicated support builds without overshadowing combat-focused members.
